We have an apple tree in the backyard that the girls are obsessed with. This is the first year we have actually had apples. On more than one occasion I have found Miss Kit high in the apple tree reaching for an apple. Instead of capturing the moment in pictures I try to capture her from falling out of the tree. This week they came home from school and I took them outside to see all the red, ripe apples. I let each of them pick a few and they were in heaven. Ahhhh the simple pleasures of being six!

Sometimes all you have to do is walk out the door to have a great day. We have had the most beautiful weather the past few weeks. The sky is as blue as can be, the sun is shining brightly and there is a crisp feeling in the air. Summer is on its way out and Fall is fast approaching. These are the days I love! If I could chose any kind of weather it would be what we are having right now! Although the days are getting shorter they are proving to be almost perfect! The girls and I decided to go for a walk last Sunday. Lucy brought her whistle to direct traffic and Kit brought her binoculars to explore the scenery. We walked to our favorite park and played and played. We then followed the tree lined path to the beach and Kit explored until her heart was content. We walked to the marina and stared at the boats, each choosing our favorite one. We ran and ran, pocketed sea glass and rocks and found flowers to pick and bring home. When bedtime approached I had two tired girls. When I tucked them in Kit said, "Thanks for the perfect day Mom!" I would have to agree it was a perfect day with my two favorite girls!

Well as the old saying goes, "You don't always get what you wish for". We have a state law that requires all children entering Kindergarten to have an eye exam. I explained to the girls that we were going to go to the eye doctor to have their eyes checked out. I assured both of them that their eyes were just fine. Lucy decided that all she wanted were a pair of glasses. She was quite excited for her eye doctor appointment. She was disappointed when she was told she had perfect vision. She was more upset when Kit was told she was going to have to get glasses! Oh the problems of a six year old. We had a few moments of pouting (only from Lucy). She decided to go along with us when we picked up Kit's new glasses. When Kit put them on Lucy told her how cute she looked! The next day my girlfriend stood by me at school pick up. When Lucy came out she told her to close her eyes and put out her hands. When Lucy looked down - she too had a brand new pair of "glasses".(just glass no prescription lens). I wish I had a picture of her smile! Every morning when Kit puts on her glasses so does Lucy:)

Lucy was so excited to celebrate her Golden Birthday!! She turned 6 on September 6th and was so happy! She woke up early and yelled from her room. "It's my Golden Birthday!" She then ran into our room and gave me a huge hug! Kit woke up and joined in the fun. We had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast that were in the shape of the number 6. Lucy was not thrilled to have to go to school on her birthday. I assured her that her teacher and class would make a big deal out of her day. They didn't disappoint. I went to school at lunch time and surprised her with a cupcake - Kit got one as well. She loved receiving calls from her Aunts and Uncles and cousins. Her favorite call was her early morning call from Mimi!! We went out to dinner with two of our favorite people and had lots of fun. The celebration continued for a couple more days. When Daddy came home we celebrated with a nice dinner out, a cake picked out by Lucy and some fun presents.
Starting the day out right:)
