Thanksgiving and our fun out of town guests!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a fun visit with our out of town visitors - Lucy's Aunt Ann, Uncle Joe and her cousins Catherine, Maggie, Sean and Patsy! We were very busy while they were here. On Wednesday we visited the Mill City Museum. All of the kids had a fun time as did the adults. On Thursday we enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. On Friday we went shopping and to a movie. On Saturday afternoon we went to the downtown Macy's display. I look forward to it every year and this year did not dissapoint! While we were there the girls wrote letters to Santa. On Saturday evening we went out for dinner and went bowling. This was something new for Lucy as she had never bowled with the kids before. She didn't actually bowl but all of her cousins were so sweet to her and let her help them with a roll or two!

Lucy had so much fun with all of her cousins they were so sweet to her - from reading her books every day and night, to painting her fingernails and playing with her little kitchen on hours on end!! They left this morning and she already misses them (so do I)! We can't wait to see everyone again next month for Christmas!!!! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

An Encounter with a Contessa

What does one do on a dreary, snowy morning in November?!

Well Lucy and I made plans with a friend to meet one of my favorite "celebrities" at a book signing at Williams-Sonoma. Ina Garten aka "The Barefoot Contessa" was in town promoting her new cookbook. I was so excited to meet her as I love all of her cookbooks as well as her show on the Food Network. I was meeting my friend for lunch beforehand and then we were going to get in line. Well when we got to the mall the line was quite long - so we had to skip lunch and get right in line as we didn't want to miss out on the signing. I came preapared with 2 sippy cups, crackers, snacks and books for Lucy. She was so good while we waited in line for 90 minutes. When we finally got inside the store -we finally saw her. We made our way up to the table books in hand ready to meet The Contessa. She was so nice and made a point to ask Lucy what her name was and told her that she loved her bow:) When she said hi to Lucy, Lucy replied with,

"Hi Ina". Ina got a big smile on her face as did I. When Lucy asked me that morning where we were going bye-bye - I told her we were going to meet Ina. Well I guess she remembered - I should have told her we were meeting Mrs. Garten and she could have used her good manners- oh well. It was a fun time. If you are a Barefoot Contessa fan I highly recommend the book- I have already made two of the recipes this week!

I wonder what this book is?!
It looks good!

Who is this Mommy?!

I'm going to meet The Barefoot Contessa!

No Cheese!

Lucy has decided that she no longer likes to have her picture taken. She refuses to look at the camera- this is where her stubborn side comes out. The other day I brought out the camera- and she grabbed my hand and said, "No cheese!" Meaning she would not smile and say cheese for the camera. I told her she didn't have to say cheese, she could just make silly faces. Well that she liked and this is what I got! I hope she changes her mind and decides to say cheese again - if not I guess I will have a lot of funny face pictures!

There's that smile that I love!

Halloween 2008

We had a great time on Halloween. It was all helped out by the fact that we had unseasonably warm weather - which made the party and trick-or-treating quite enjoyable! Lucy didn't have to wear a coat or mittens like she did last year. We hosted a neighborhood pre-trick or treating party with lots of pizza, goodies and tons of little kids! Lucy loved being a pig and saying oink oink at every house she went to. Her Dad took her around the neighborhood while I stayed home and handed out candy. When Lucy came home she was so excited to look through all of her treats and eat a few pieces as well. she was worn out from a long day of fun. A good time was had by all. Hope you all enjoyed a fun Halloween as well!
