Over The Moon

Lucy LOVES the moon! As a matter of fact I think she is a bit obsessed with the moon. She spots it in every book, magazine, newspaper, even on the American flag postage stamp. She is always the first to spot it when we are out at night. If it happens to be out during the day she always finds it. When she wakes up in the morning one of the first things she asks me is if the moon is night night - because she knows it sleeps during the day. She and her Daddy have a nightly ritual. Every night after her bath when she puts her pj's on her Dad takes her outside to see the moon. They stay outside for awhile staring at it. She acts as surprised and happy each night she sees it as the first time she spotted it. She especially likes when there is a full moon and she actually howls at it - which makes us laugh every time.

Her Dad's birthday was this week. Last week I took her to a local shop where you can paint pictures, plates, etc. I told her she could paint a birthday present for her dad. She looked around the shop and needless to say she picked out a picture of the moon to paint. She had so much fun painting! When she was finished the shop owner put it in a pretty bag and covered it with tissue. We brought it home and hid it in my closet as it was going to be a surprise.

Well for the past week every time someone mentioned the moon - she ran right for the closet to get out the gift. I kept having to explain to her that it was a surprise and we weren't going to give it to Daddy until his birthday - a hard concept for a two year old to understand. Well yesterday was finally her dad's birthday. After dinner I told her she could go get Daddy's present. I am not sure I have ever seen her so excited - she RAN to get the gift and couldn't wait for it to be opened. She helped her Daddy open it and she seemed quite proud when he told her how great it was. I must say I am not sure I have ever seen him enjoy a gift more!

Happy Birthday Daddy - I love you to the moon and back!!!

Lucy's very own artwork!
FINALLY I can give Daddy his gift!

I'm so excited for you to see what I made!

Oh Lucy - I just love it!!!!!

I'm so glad Daddy likes his gift!!!

A Fun Day At The Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we enjoyed a fun day at the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Lucy loved picking and eating the apples as well as picking out the perfect pumpkin! We were lucky that Molly and Conor came with us so they could show her just the right way to pick an apple!

Look at the apples

I'm going to try to pick one off

Got it!

Conor is giving me some apple picking advice

Here's how you do it Lucy

The three amigos

Eating the apple is better than picking the apple!

On to the Pumpkin Patch

So many pumpkins

Off to find the perfect one

I think I found it!

Conor found one he liked

Molly found a big one!

I thought the apples were good- they have nothing on the donuts!!!!

A Perfect Fall Day!

There is nothing like a beautiful fall day, and that is exactly what we are having here today! It's been reported that this weekend is the peak for the autumn colors. We took advantage of the pretty day and took a walk along the Mississippi River. Lucy loves the falling leaves so needless to say she was in heaven. She collected as many as she could and we brought them home for safekeeping. Hope you are all enjoying a great weekend as well!
