A Bowl of Apples

We have a bowl of apples in our living room that Lucy loves to play with. She always asks me first if it is okay if she takes them down from the table. I always say yes. She is quite ritualistic about everything she does - the bowl of apples is no different. She first takes the bowl down, then empties the apples as fast as she can. She removes the plastic liner - puts it on her head and laughs and then sits in the bowl. Then she does it all again - with a little help from me with putting the apples back into the bowl. Once again I ask myself the question, "Why do I buy her toys?"

This is what one does on a morning when they were suppossed to go to the Zoo to see the baby farm animals but had to cancel due to a snowstorm. I don't mean to complain about the weather - but we are ready for Spring already!

Mom said it's okay
I've successfully dumped out all of the apples
Look at me mom
I fit right in the bowl
I'm just kicking back and relaxing
I'm ready to do it all over again!

Easter 2008 - Lucy's First Easter!

I thought Easter was a spring holiday - but when we looked out the window Easter morning it looked like a winter wonderland. We were hit with over 6 inches of snow! Even with the winter weather we had a wonderful Easter. We went to mass at 9:30 and Lucy was a very good girl - especially considering we had to get there early in order to get a seat and it is a very long mass. As always Lucy "sang" with the choir as loud as possible. She fell asleep half way through mass and her singing subsided.

We hosted Easter dinner at our house. Maggie, Kelly, Molly and Conor joined us as did our good friends The Hansons. Lucy's cousin Molly planned an indoor Easter egg hunt for all of the kids. She filled the eggs and put the kids initials on all of them. She planned it that each one of the kids would get the same number of eggs with the same prizes inside- pretty smart that Molly is. She hid the eggs for Lucy and Vie Vie in spots where they could easily be found. The Egg hunt was a big hit for all of the kids. Conor and Eddie especially had fun finding their eggs.

We enjoyed a nice Easter with good friends and family! It was so great having Lucy with us this Easter. She loved finding her basket and seeing all of the goodies inside. She played with all of her basket goodies throughout the day. She loved the Easter egg hunt, she loved playing with her cousins and her friends and she loved ending her dinner with a big cupcake! The best part about Easter for us was spending it with our sweet daughter!

We're Getting There

I think Conor is ready to play chase!
I think I see him coming
There he is
I'm coming to get you Conor
Now he's chasing me!
Where should I go?

I'm going to hide in my "secret hiding spot"

Here comes Conor

I'm going to run away

Stopping to watch the snow melt

I LOVE my cousin Conor!!!!!

I'm happy to report that we have turned the corner and have finally hit 40 degree weather - Yippee! Everything is starting to melt and we can see the light at the end of the frozen tunnel! We are all so excited that spring is on its way. Lucy's cousin Conor was over yesterday and it was still too wet to play outside so they had a fun day of playing chase and hide and seek indoors. They ran and ran and ran for hours - they had a great time together. Conor is always so sweet to Lucy and plays so nice with her even though he is a few years older. Whenever he sees her he always hugs her and tells her that she is his best buddy! They are so cute together. Anyway I can't wait for the two of them to start playing outside they will have so much fun- it shouldn't be too long now. Hope you are enjoying warmer weather as well!

Grandma and Grandpa

This is the best smile I'm going to give you
I love you but don't want to have my picture taken

Grandma is so smart to give me my cup back
Now that's better!
Thanks Grandma!

I'm coming to get that camera away from you mom
Lucy's Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit last week. Grandpa stayed until Monday and Grandma is staying until next week. Lucy has had so much fun having them here for a visit (which is not evidenced in the above photos). She played hide and seek with them, peek-a-boo, showed them her "pretty eyes", showed them all of her toys and had them read her books everyday. She loves Grandma and Grandpa and loves having them here - she already misses Grandpa. I wish I could have captured more pictures - but Lucy was not being photo cooperative.

I'm trying to stay warm

Just eating my banana on the stairs where I'm not supposed to be

This banana is so good!

Blowing kisses

No more pictures Mom!

Not much to post this week - other than I am so ready for winter to be over with! While watching the news the other night they reported that we have had continuous snow on the ground for 93 days (and counting)! No wonder I am ready for spring! Minneapolis has had one of the coldest winters in 13 years - and I am ready for it to end! We have a bad case of cabin fever. Lucy just stares out the window and points to her swingset. I'm happy that today is March 1st and we are nearing the end of this cold weather. Even if March is bad we know that Spring is just around the corner. I can't wait to open the windows and put away the hats and gloves! Until then I will just have to have grin and bear it:) The above are a few random shots from the week - Lucy did not want to "pose" for any pictures - she is not only tired of winter she is also tired of me chasing her around the house trying to take her picture. Hope you are all enjoying a nice weekend! Happy March!
