Baby It's Cold Outside

BRRRRRRRR
When it's this cold outside one has to find lots of fun things to do indoors. We had a busy weekend inside with Miss Lucy. Hope you all had a nice weekend and are staying warm.

I love chasing Daddy

I'm going to get you

Here I come again

I think I'll play with some rubberbands I'll lie on the floor in front of the fire and drink my milk
The fire is so warm I love it

Another cold day - I think I'll read some books
I love my books

Now I am going to play with my vaporizor

What now?
I think I will play with my baby
Hug my lovey Play with my flash cards
I 'm going to learn all about having good manners

What's left to do?

Mommy will you play with me?

Lucy's New Obsession

Lucy has a new obsession - clasps. She discovered the strap with a clasp in her highchair and there is no turning back. When she is not sitting in her highchair I take the strap off and let her play with it. She loves snapping it together, but she has not mastered taking it apart, therefore I have to take it apart for her. Which is okay except for the fact that she could do this for hours on end. Everytime she hears the snap she claps and smiles as though she has accomplished what she set out to do. As of this week this is her favorite thing to do and to play with. So someone please remind me why I have a room full of toys when what she really likes are clasps, remotes, cordless phones and Kleenex boxes.

I'm going to get this together
Yeah - I did it!
Here I go again
And again
And again
And yet again
I even do it while lying on the ground

Snowman Trauma

My labor of love

Lucy's reaction to her snowman - not the reaction I was hoping for

My beloved swing

Oh no I can still see the snowman

Thanks for blocking the snowman for me mom

This past weekend we tried to take advantage of the warmer weather so not only did we go sledding but I also built Lucy a snowman. I was going to bring her outside with me while I built the snowman but I decided to build it first and then bring her outside to "surprise" her with it. Like most things I think will be a fun surprise - it backfired on me and the only surprise was how much she disliked the snowman. Disliked to the point of tears- I felt so bad for her. I built the snowman in the backyard an area in which we haven't spent much time of late. Lucy spied her swingset and got a huge smile on her face. So we left the scene of the snowman and the drama that went with it and just went for a fun swing ride.

As an aside- (two things).

1. Everyone knows how crazy I am about Miss Lucy- I love her to pieces. I mean I love, love, love her (as every parent loves their child). For those of you who know me well and know my distaste for winter and all things cold you know I must be pretty crazy about Lucy to spend time outside building a snowman. And let me tell you it takes time to build a snowman - I didn't remember it taking that long (perhaps if I left my competitive side inside the house I wouldn't have had to build such a large snowman that took a lot of time and traumatized my daughter.)

2. Poor Lucy has old parents (or perhaps just out of shape parents). The weekend in the snow threw us for a loop. Rich hurt his back while sledding and now finds it painful to sit down or stand up. I imagine his 3 hour plane trip yesterday was a bit unpleasant. I was sweating and winded after building the snowman (please note it is a rather large snowman- remember my competitive spirit. ) For Lucy's sake we will continue to play the role of a young parents of a toddler- I will just keep a big supply of Aleve in the medicine cabinet.

Sledding Fun

This is pretty fun being pulled around
Oops I tipped over
Where's Daddy taking me?
This is a big hill we are going down
That was fun
Now it's Mommy's turn
We are going pretty fast - Mommy looks scared
This is so fun!

We took advantage of the warm weather this weekend - 35 degrees (and yes that is warm compared to the temperatures we have had lately) and took Lucy out for her first sledding adventure. She had a great time as did her mom and dad. I always forget how much fun it is to go sledding. We went to a park not far from home and we were the only people on the hill or anywhere around for that matter. I can't count how many times we went up and down the hill. Each time down was funner than the time before - we were belly laughing. Had it not been for having Lucy with us I could have stayed all day. She was worn out by the end and ready to come home for a nice long nap.

Happy Birthday Granny

Mommy thought I would hold all of these crazy signs she made What was she thinking?!
I would rather play with the blinds
Turn my back on mommy
Sit in my chair

Make funny faces
Look out the window
Or play peek-a-boo

Even though I won't hold the signs -I will always blow Granny a kiss!!!!!
